Oliver the sleepy kitty...

Ollie is the newest addition to our family. He was recently neutered and is now allowed in our bedroom at times. His favorite pastime is sleeping...that's about all he does oh and also cry to be let outside.

As you can see from these pictures he knows how to sleep very well. So in honor of my Ollie I'll say goodnight sleep tight!

Captain Jack

We've had this scraggly skinny feral cat hang out at our house for years. He was always terrified of us and never wanted anything but food from us. I had tamed Ariel and Salt's momma years ago and she recently about 3 months ago disappeared. I think she died as she wasn't feeling too well. Anyway she always made sure the scraggly cat ate. She would beg for food and not eat lol
Well since momma cat has disappeared I wasn't planning on feeding the scraggly cat too frequently as we are hoping to one day move and obviously we can't take a feral cat with us. I was hoping he'd go to our neighbor who loves cats to get fed. About a month or so after momma disappeared mister scraggly cat decided he would try to be friendly and loving in order to get food. Well I can't resist a cute of even a pitiful cat and gave him his first itchies and well he LOVED it so much that he comes running EVERYTIME we go outside and rub up against our legs and beg for itchies. I had no plans of naming mister scraggly cat but one day it popped into my head he kinda reminds me of Captain Jack Sparrow from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. You know Jack is a scrappy looking but there's just something about him ;) Well Captain Jack is like this. He's got really pretty light green eyes and probably would be a pretty cat with a little weight on him.

Oliver

Oliver is the newest edition to our family. Last September I was petting a Salt and Ariel's momma outside and I looked up and saw the most beautiful cat. I got up and he acted like he was going to run but I called him and he came right up to me. He's the not only got the most beautiful blue-green eyes...eye's I've never seen on a cat before he's also the sweetest cat we've got. A true love bug!

After that first meeting he decided WE where is family. Our screen doors screen needs a bit of work so he would jump through them to get in the house. There was no keeping him out of here...not that I was too mad at that. He's a welcome addition to our cat family and he finishes out our kitties. Well that was the plan...

Torrie

Torrie is our mean little torbie. Her mom was a sweet black kitty that showed up at our house one day. I had thought she belonged to a neighbor across the street but it turned out she was probably abandoned. Unfortunately was killed by a dog when Torrie and her brother was only a few weeks old. Torrie and her brother were born underneath a shed at a convent that is right behind our house.

I was concerned for them after their mom died but didn't have a clue where she had them. Well my husband was out near our garage and heard a tiny kitten with BIG lungs mewing at the top of her lungs. He told he and it was already late at night and we couldn't just go over to the convent to get the kitten. The next day we go over there and the convents care taker had found Torrie already and I had also heard a faint mew which was Torrie's little brother. We found him too.

One of my mom's cats had just had kittens so I took her and her brother over there to be nursed and cleaned by Tippy. She took to them pretty well but neither really took to her. She was just a meal ;) Every time I would go to my mom's to see them little Torrie would go running around the corner when she heard my voice. I didn't plan on keeping her in fact I REALLY wanted to keep her brother. He is an adorable tuxedo cat but she worked her way into my heart. Unfortunately she didn't stay a sweet kitten and VERY much has the Tortietude but she has her sweet moments.

The little tuxedo kitten went to live with our neighbor who loves him dearly. Here's a picture of him when he was a kitten.

Callie

Callie came to us via a friend of Robb's. He was moving and his wife who had lost a cat who couldn't handle the move wanted her to find a new home. Robb was performing a wedding the day we picked her up. The funny thing is I had always wanted a diluted calico and was thinking that would be neat if she turned out to be one and sure enough she was!

Callie

She's extremely timid  and lives in our bedroom where she can live in peace away from the brat cats Shatner and Titus.

She's so photogenic!!

Ariel and Salt

Ariel and Salt are brother and sister but a year apart.  I decided to put them together into the same blog for this reason. Ariel was born sometime...I think around April of 2005 and Salt was born around April of 2006.

Ariel and Salt's mom was a feral cat that we had hang out at our house for many years. She passed away a few months ago. Ariel and Salt were also feral when I first saw them. It took many months before either trusted me enough to pet them and feed them.

Ariel was the first to come inside and she seemed to adjust well to being a full time indoor cat.

This is Ariel before she made the transition inside.

I had no intention of bringing Salt inside until he had had an accident.

Salt had disappeared for a few weeks and one day I saw him limping and VERY skinny and noticed his hip was messed up. I took him to the vet and the vet told us that it will just have to heal on is own. Once healed he never showed he was in any pain thankfully.

This was when Salt became an inside cat full time.
I got him the bed and toy to make him feel better.

Here's a close up with his first toy.

Salt and Ariel always seemed to know they were brother and sister even though they never interacted outside.

These two love each other very much as you can tell.

Both have great purrsonalities and I'm glad to have them in my life.

Titus

Titus is my BIG FAT FLUFFY kitty. We got him to be a playmate for Shatner. Shatner's playmate went to the Rainbow Bridge and Lauren and Peri (my RB kitty) were older and didn't want anything to do with a 4 month old kitten. The funny thing is Titus and Shatner don't like each other...oh well LOL He's a big sweet dog-like kitty who drive me nuts sometimes.

Here's a few photos of my fluffy cat!

Shatner...

Shatner's story.
We had a cat named Lucy that disappeared (she was really a neighbor's cat but decided she wanted to hang out at our house more than his) and I really missed her and wanted to get a kitten that would be completely indoors. My aunt had a friend that had a cat that had kittens and on October 31st, 2004 I got this adorable little white fluff ball.

He was only 4 weeks old but he came right up to me and wanted me to pick him up. I knew I had to have him. While he should have stayed with his momma cat a little longer he ended up coming home with me that night.

How he got his name...
Shatner when I brought him home immediately went exploring. My husband and I were trying to come up with a name that would fix our new little explorer and we started thinking about William Shatner. He played Captain Kirk and Captain Kirk was an explorer of the star albeit a fictional one but the name Shatner fit!

Shatner is no long that tiny little kitten. He's grown into a big sweet handsome boy.

Welcome to Life with 8 crazy cats

Hi, I have 8 sweet, funny, CRAZY cats and a husband. The cats are our kids. I decided to start this blog to showcase my beautiful kitties and show all their crazy antics. I'll introduce each one in an individual posting.

My oldest is Lauren.

She's an 11 year old Siamese mix. Lauren is known as the diva cat. She KNOWS she's the queen of the house and will not take no for an answer. She is so expressive with her eyes and a very loving cat. Even though she's almost 12 she still acts like a kitten.

November 1st, 1999 is Lauren's "gotcha" day. I had to put to sleep my 9 year old sweet boy Sam in the middle of October and had a kitten that needed a play mate (her and Peri never did get along) so I went over to the local mall to the pet store and there she was. She was the last of her littermates and she was the gorgeous grey siamese mix kitten. The moment I saw her I knew she belonged to me.

November 1st is also my aunts birthday and I happened to have her son with me when I picked out Lauren so we headed back to his house. My cousin was the one who came up with her name and it fits her very well.

Lauren is well loved in our household. I can't imagine not having her even though she's getting older and her time is shorter than I wish it was. I pray to have many more years with my sweet girl.

Next time I'll talk about Shatner...
